Have you read Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins? It's an easy read, funny, big on irony. I always grin right through it.

I've always found Nicholai Gogol's work, "Dead Souls" to be a great Satire. It's not exactly slapstick, but there's plenty of good Russian Humor in it. Hope that helps.

Although I love everything by Douglas Adams, "Long Dark Teatime of the Soul" is my favourite. It gives us Thor trying to explain why he hasn't got a passport, and Odin obsessed with soft sheets in his nursing home.

Alexander McCall Smith's books are always light, amusing and poignant. Can be really funny too, if you're in to Brit wit. I like the Corduroy Mansions series the best, I end up chuckling a lot. That series is something like a modern day Jeeves and Wooster in tone, and they seem to read themselves, going by so quickly.

If you can manage a bit of Glasgow dialect, Christopher Brookmyre's "A Tale Etched In Blood And Hard Black Pencil" is a murder mystery riot. His other books are not bad either.

David Sedaris writes some funny stuff. I particularly enjoyed "When you are engulfed in flames" and "Me talk pretty one day".

I would highly recommend anything by Terry Pratchett, or Douglass Adams.

Terry Pratchett's Discworld series is excellent Fantasy Comedy. One of my favourite authors

Also, if your into philosophy and jokes, Plato and a Platypus Walk Into a Bar by Thomas Cathcart and Daniel Klein is very good.

Any book by Spike Milligan, providing you don’t hail from the States (A cultural thing) Never, Never read any on a train ride, you’re get some really weird looks from fellow passengers.
