same sex marriage
#1
just been made legal in parts of the usa and soon in all of the usa. (most likely) it means that under the law all people will be equal there when it comes to marriage.

my question has nothing to do with that. Dodgy

my question is this;

what law would people like to see passed that would be the most beneficial in a good way.

back to the marriage thing, why is this kind of marriage limited to two people

okay two questions. Wink

I want it made law that politicians have a device implanted into their brains that links up to their nervous system, so that whenever they tell a lie they piss themselves.
It could be worse

the world would flood.

i'd like to see a law that gives free transport to workers, two trips a five days a weak for those who are on low wages. (bus or train) and a law that makes each state supply bike parks and bikes for those that wish to cycle to work.

I want a law that makes it compulsory that politicians wear wet suits .

Only Tory politicians wear wetsuits. And fireman's helmets.

PS. I like your ideas for laws, billy. They're sensible and would assist those who need help the most -- people who are trying hard to help themselves.

Therefore, those laws shall never be passed. It's just the way the world is.

......and why only to people If the only qualification needed to justify the "new" definition of marriage is the presence of "love" then why can't I marry my dog....or my bitch for that matter, if the USA has set tbe precedent off.Hysterical I said precedent you moron, not presidetHysterical

yeah, how many people would marry their cats, addy would, you can now marry your dog as it's the same sex as you Wink does this mean the sanctity of marriage no longer exists?
@ leanne, yeah that's often the case. the real stuff that would help is oft overlooked.
a law that made all politicians live for twelve months on welfare before they can hold office might make them more aware of the needs of the less fortunate. of course there are scroungers but not all are, many of them were hard working people a few years ago.

Expand Container-deposit laws to more states/countries
(quite a few already have it). They require collection of
a deposit on soft-drink, etc. containers. Whoever returns
it gets the deposit back. For list of states/countries and
more see:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Container_d...ted_States
(I've just been driving along a road (any road).
Oh, and yes, almost forgot: Charging 10 cents (or equivalent) for those
damn plastic grocery bags so people will switch to reusable ones.
(That road led to a grocery store.)

The dark forces who fight against civil-rights for all. But hang on, it's coming.
( Though I think it's necessary for women to have [and be able to exercise]
their rights for this to work out without careful supervision [oops,
another damn compromise].)
P.S. Unfortunately, hanging on until women have (and are able to
exercise) their civil rights is going to take quite a long hang
( 37 generations? ).

Love isn't a prerequisite in these laws. What IS a prerequisite is
informed consent. (BTW, this is why, among other reasons, you
can't marry that kid you just picked up on the playground.)

Maybe this will be possible, pretty soon, for porpoises, dolphins,
killer whales, etc. , but dogs will take a while longer.
Cats? No problem there, I (and millions of others) know from
experience that they never, ever, not in a quadrillion years,
consent to anything.

i like the bag suggestion, here in the philippines most of the major chains have started using paper bags and sell heavy duty bags if you want them that are ecologically safe. they also have deposits but only on glass bottles, that said, they have a thriving industry of jusk collection where they get so much per kilo of plastic etc. so any containers that are laying around soon get picked up. i never thought about the consent part, what if the animal can tap out it's name with it's paw Big Grin trigger could Wink

My favorite, Right-wing flavoured journal, the 'Daily Telegraph', reports that 'civil servants' have introduced int our same-sex bill, provisions that men may be wives, and women may be husbands - or shall be, I should say.

This is where we are at. A civil union gave everyone whatever they wanted, in terms of equality. But no. The word, which demonstrably has hitherto referred to man/woman -marriage -must also be seized. It is, in every sense, bollocks, and a heap of cock.

Where were millions baying for this reform? No-where. Who pushed it? Why have I kept seeing an intelligent, thoughtful promoter, put up against a religious oaf? Could it be that the media really are run....no, best not say the words.

It betrays something rather sad about my countrymen: the old independent yeoman spirit is dead -- you could stamp on their bloody heads and they would not react, or, worse, they would say they thought it a great idea. Sir Francis Hastings Doyle must be revolving in his grave. It is not a question of jingoistic fascism. It is a question of a people, or nation, having any 'go' in them. Thus:

The Private of the Buffs (The Royal East Kents)

LAST night, among his fellow roughs,
He jested, quaff’d, and swore:
A drunken private of the Buffs,
Who never look’d before.
To-day, beneath the foeman’s frown, 5
He stands in Elgin’s place,
Ambassador from Britain’s crown,
And type of all her race.

Poor, reckless, rude, lowborn, untaught,
Bewilder’d, and alone, 10
A heart, with English instinct fraught,
He yet can call his own.
Ay, tear his body limb from limb,
Bring cord, or axe, or flame:
He only knows, that not through him 15
Shall England come to shame.

Far Kentish hop-fields round him seem’d,
Like dreams, to come and go;
Bright leagues of cherry-blossom gleam’d,
One sheet of living snow; 20
The smoke, above his father’s door,
In gray soft eddyings hung:
Must he then watch it rise no more,
Doom’d by himself, so young?

Yes, honor calls!—with strength like steel 25
He put the vision by.
Let dusky Indians whine and kneel;
An English lad must die.
And thus, with eyes that would not shrink,
With knee to man unbent, 30
Unfaltering on its dreadful brink,
To his red grave he went.

Vain, mightiest fleets, of iron fram’d;
Vain, those all-shattering guns;
Unless proud England keep, untam’d, 35
The strong heart of her sons.
So, let his name through Europe ring—
A man of mean estate,
Who died, as firm as Sparta’s king,
Because his soul was great. 4

Now, where's that wretched blond boy? Wink

AND If I listen to much more of the Glastonbury stuff, and see any more young men with the stupid hats on back-wards, I'll go nuts. There is currently a rather portly one who gets roars of applause from the simpletons watching, every time he says 'fucking'. At least the band I have a reason to follow are upfront: their name is Fuck Buttons....Gah!Angry

That's good to hear. Yes, I forgot one of the reasons I'd support such a
bill is that 'homeless' people could earn some money picking them up.

I had a girlfriend once who would have married her horse.
I'm not sure what the animal was capable of, but she often claimed it was
smarter than me.

You're right, the question has been answered: It was YES.

OK you've gone too far there. While I'm a 'free everything' sort of person,
I would definitely support a law banning people from painting their houses
grey (or gray, for that matter). Imagine a world filled with gre(a)y houses!
Oh, yeah, no need to.

Today is the anniversary of the March on Washington. Sometimes, when I'm very depressed and feeling morbid about the state of humanity, which is often, I google pictures of Martin Luther King, because he reminds me that heroism in the face of human failure is a possibility. Homosexuality is beautiful.

so is heterosexuality :J:

does the church have copyright on the word "marriage"?

do gay people need to be able to use "marriage" in order to be validated?

i'm okay with gays being "married" but is the word the thing they want or is it the recognition of being equal partners who get the same benefits as heterosexual partners. many of whom are not married, who have not had a marriage. i was never married yet i was classed as a common law husband, this meant i had all the benifits of a married man. i claimed tax for my partner and kids etc.

It doesn't matter whether homosexuals want it or not, all people should have equal rights.

actually no one has the right to be married in church except those the church deem fit.

the same as a poetry site has the right to ban you from it's site if you don't follow the rule.

and i agree that all people be allowed to be seen as married in the eyes of the state.

as for equal rights...there has to be qualifiers, do convicts have the same legal rights as non convicts.
if gays can have sex in prison with their wives or husbands, why can't heterosexuals?
are children eligible for equal rights, in truth there is no such thing as equal rights, the society we live in dictate who has what rights. despite what we as individuals think people should have.

an example would be not allowing ex cons to bear arms even though the 2nd amendment allows it, a criteria often has to be fulfilled. pedo's with convictions aren't allowed to work in teaching for example.

if i were gay i'd want the state to see me and any long term partner as one entity the same as they do with marriage, i would care what they called it. they could call it a fuckbuddy contract for all i care as long as we got the same tax breaks and the chance of a honeymoon.
