Beautiful Boy
#1
I saw a beautiful boy today, standing in the crowds.
He stood there like a tower and was gazing at the clouds.
His eyes were a captured sunset, with molasses for his hair.
Determination graced his lips; a world was painted there.

I touched a beautiful boy today as he was walking by.
His steps were light and easy and he held his head so high.
The sunlight played upon his face as he turned to look at me,
Then all at once my skies turned blue, he’d set my sad soul free!

I loved a beautiful boy today as he reached out for my hand.
He said goodbye, he could not stay, but I could understand.
For angels were not meant to stay, forever - for all time;
But come and go and cast their light on lonely hearts like mine.

It's a pretty simple thing. It does what it was meant to do. Though it could be a lot better, it doesn't really need to be. Got any more poems?

The last line struck me strangely, but I am not really sure why. It felt out of order, like the second-to-last line should have been the ending instead.
“We, the unwilling, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have done so much, for so long, with so little, we are now qualified to do anything with nothing.
