You can bank on it

Smug bastards all, you think in armour, fronting naked serfs;
this is no fight. What worth the clang of sticks on steel,
rattling but not weakening?
You always win... you never lose. Frozen hearts make frozen hearths;
so, in our futile penury, we squalidly protest.
How much do you want? All, of course,of everything…so only you remain.

We may nick you with a splinter, hard thrown and split
from stones that chip and fly to rain the poor man’s rage…
but that is not the way.
On the streets, we know we prick…your blood congeals
like sealing wax, on white-paper deals;
never the gush and deadly rush of blue liquidity.

Pack your castles and your mansions and your silver jets and go.
We risk all anyway, so the nothing that we have
is the nothing that we lose.
Your pinstripes will not save you; you will need the iron, safe!
Get ready for the cliff-edge where once the gold was mined;
you all will fall the faster for your pockets weigh you down.

Well said that man...although personally I would have like a bit more hatred and malice in there. (Opps did I say that..of course as a nicey Christian I would think no such thing...but with my mortal (left) hat on I daily scan the news to see if a few rabid gunmen have muchied up, from picking on kids and shoppers and got their arses into a central bank office or two).
Really sorry I do not have more time this morning to spend on this - my only quick note is, in S2 L2 I stumble over there not being on after rain.
Enjoyed the read and the presentation. Good images. Nice rant. Big Grin What can I say, lovely punctuation as ever. Tongue

Hi Cider,
Yes...a few news-muse poems lets off steam! This one is, of course, banker's bonuses. Very topical but really outside my genre.
The lack of the "on" word was forced on me because I wanted to use the idea of the impotent dispossesed, chucking stones and sticks in street protests. The projectiles were not raining ON them, but upon the institutions they were not best pleased with...as in " He shall rain death upon you all!"
Be careful with the word "rabid" as serge appears to have accepted it as a virtue...in him, it isSmile
( joke ya serge)
Best,
