many poets seem to be affected by various things. i'm a sun person, so too little of it could make me write a darker than usual poem i nearly always write funny stuff when it's sunny.

Having conversations with people. Someone will say something that sets me off in a direction. Most of my work comes from human interaction. Writing is solitary, but I wouldn't work well in solitude.

Mostly conversations for me as well, Todd, and the interaction with other poets especially. You never know when a word or phrase is going to spark something off in your head.
It could be worse

For me it is more the about observation of things that sets of a spate of pondering, that then ends up in a poem. (I'm a shocking people watcher).
So it can be virtually anything. But I guess human nature and religion figure highly in my contemplations. (which is odd because i think I value and appreciate the countryside and animals more than most things). So thinking about It.... That's why this site is so good for me, it makes me think.....thinking about it, I guess it is things that get me stirred up, more than the passionate things, that I tend to write about.

I agree with twistedangel. I write what I feel strongly about and if there's no spark I can't write. Writing for me is like having a voice and things around me or certain situations inspire me to have that voice.

I write when I'm angry, it controls me. When I'm mad my pen has a mind of it's own, it's like I black out. lol

exactly like anger management. I can't seem to write a happy poem though, I'm sort of 1-dimensional that way but i'm working on it.

I don't know but I believe I saw one on Sesame Street once so check that out. I can be an emotional writer as well but it just comes out as a rant or too mushy where a trashcan is needed especially if you had just ate.

I tend to write about past experience or images real and imaginery. Time also affects what I write as I'm quite busy, I rush things, when I take longer I become indecisive and change things, usually for the worst. So now I write and post, then sort them out with some help, so thanks.
