I think it is very valuable for less experienced people to read and critique in the serious section (as long as they aren't counting that as their critique to post one of their own in that section)--personally some of the best advice I ever got on a poem was "I don't get this whole stanza..."

For me, I think of critique as a karma-based thing: the more you give, the more you'll receive.
