Not that it matters, but I just finished a wonderful biography of Lou Reed entitled (what else?) Lou Reed:  A Life, by Anthony DeCurtis.  I was somewhat amazed that such a magnum opus on Lou Reed was written so shortly after his death for fans of his work like myself.  I can only name about 7 or 8 men or women of rock who lent such an enduringly influential sensibility to the genre over its duration.  Was this guy the father/predecessor of punk, alternative, and perhaps even grunge in the sensibility he brought to the art form?  

I also never quite knew the depths of what a stubborn, cantankerous diva he was.   

Anyway...great read, if you like this sort of thing, the mod-art, factory, Andy Warhol, New York underground scene where the likes of Jackie Kennedy and Walter Cronkite danced drunkenly to the Velvet Underground at some late night Manhattan club in the 60's where something fresh was emerging and happening.
