Uncle Remus Rex - TranquillityBase - 01-06-2023

Folks er Teebs, jus' look at ole Eddie Remus.
Dis be de king dat figgered dat big reddle
An' got made high, and mos' mighty.
All de peeples seed his livin' and lick deys chops,
Den dat time come dat he sho hit a snag.
Member all you gentermens is born creeturs
An' better segashuate yo' las' day, an' nobody
Bes' speck deyer always gwine ter a big bobbycue
Less'n bimeby he ain't hurtin' in de worl' no mo'.




These are the last lines of Oedipus Rex translated into the dialect created by Joel Chandler Harris for his Uncle Remus stories.  I did this strictly as something fun, because I like dialects of all kinds, and was particularly entranced by Harris'

If anyone is offended, the mods should free to remove, but it has no racial origin in my mind.

I confess to finding the dialect somewhat impenetrable unless read aloud (emphasis in the right places helps).  But it's a noble effort, and a worthy sentiment.
