NaPM 2023

Ten years of NaPM. TEN YEARS. My first one was 2015, while the first one I hosted was 2022....This year, it's gonna be a sort of best-of, with all the prompts being taken from all the previous years. Which prompts in particular would y'all like to see return?

Wow 10 years! Great! I started doing NaPoWriMo in 2018 and it was a good experience. What were the prompts before? Refresh my memory.

To see the prompts from previous years you can go to “Milo’s forum” and read through the threads.
There are too many prompts to list them all here.

Hey notch- make it easy on yourself and just pick three from each year, at random.

Smart answer quix. I miss you and would love to see you in on some of the action. Even a little bit of the action.
Now that I’m retired, and recently broke my back, I have way too much free time, so it should be easy for me to participate. Beats sittin around on my ass feeling sorry for myself.

Hope you and yours are doing well.

I have much time on my hands, so I did go through some of the old prompts.  I'd be happy if you chose any of these for your list:

would like to see a poem inspired by the euphoria of the first time you do something (sex, love, drugs, poetry)

Write a poem inspired by the number two, couples, doubles or a dichotomy.

Write a poem inspired by a place you have lived or inspired by a place you have wanted to live.

Write a "negative" poem or a poem that defines something or someone or yourself by what it or he or you are not (I am no friend of cats . . .)

write a poem inspired by metamorphosing into an animal, being an animal or from the point of view of an animal.

Write a riddle as a poem.  You can use an old one, but try to create your own.

Write a poem inspired by a favorite cartoon or cartoon character.

Take a children's game and either write a poem using that as the title or write a poem inspired by that

Write a poem from the point of view of an anti-hero, an adversary, a bad guy, etc.

Write a poem inspired by a rivalry.

Write a poem inspired by something that scares you.

Choose a common household item, food, drink, etc. and write a poetic creation myth about it.

Write a poem inspired by edges (of any kind).

April may be the cruelest month, but March is surely the longest... waiting for NaPM to start!

River, thank you so much for pulling this together! I know it’s a lot of work. If you need an extra hand or if there are days you won’t be able to post, just let me know and I can help.

As for prompts, I liked this one:
Write a beautiful poem in an ugly way, or write an ugly poem in a beautiful way.

And also, I always adore a fairytale themed prompt. (Extra points if it’s posted on the 28th.)

Mark, hello to you as well! I’ll try to participate in the fun. I haven't been writing much recently, so it would be good practice to dust off the quill and parchment and make an effort. I’m sorry to hear about your back. Hopefully it heals quickly, and hopefully writing 30 poems in as many days will be a good distraction. Big Grin
