Cynic’s History

Britain
not to mention France
had to take the long view
and develop nuclear weapons
even at great
expense
just in case
the
Russians
didn’t.

(A calligram... or, in this case, perhaps, a Kali-gram.)

Forget POLITICS, Duke. We all die.
We all are subject to the Rule Of The Asses.

Unless you're Duke. Raoul Duke.

In which case the only liberty is suicide
Freedom, liberty.

Freedom from what? Liberty from what?
I'm telling you, Mad Max philosophy. Let it Die. While maintaining your violent sentiment, harsh nostalgia.

I love the British and the French and the Russian. Their/y're my allies in crime.
The people who make bombs take, are at least are paid to, things too raffishly seriously.

I'm a Conservative. I believe in the woods that were here before I was born because they are beautiful.

A fair response.  In the year after I left the deterrence business, I had a severe revulsion to it - provoked by Churchill's revulsion at the things done on his watch, particularly in World War I.  Then I gradually recovered:  Churchill's sentiments resulted from deterrence's failure while my kind of mathematical deterrence had succeeded up to then.  And still does, God knows why.

Politics is a contest for control of organized armed force by various means short of its use.  In this it has much in common with deterrence, don't you think?

My knowledge of poetry and folklore leaves me an invalid. My knowledge of history and motion pictures leaves me an invalid. My age and experience and lack of experience and knowledge. Hence, Mad Max philosophy. The world is what it is. IsIs, the goddess. IsRaEl? So many gods say so and not.

The black africans  had the right idea. I've spent a decade trying to get back to that. And I don't mean Malcolm X.

The woods are beautiful. And they weren't always here. End of sermon.

Though I like sermons, and would prefer they never end.
