Cold Blooded

I stabbed him, through his Ralph Lauren,
felt warmth bleed over my hand
and was jealous of it.
My skin had been so cold lately;
newspaper blanket not enough,
park bench too unforgiving,
even the soup kitchen failed
to de-ice veins, long forgotten.

The System, Renamed

What once was called “affirmative
action” is a system which promotes
groundless envy in recipients
against outsiders thought to hold them down
and makes outsiders envy beneficiaries
their unearned bounty and resent
their baseless hate.  Today this system’s been
re-branded “social justice.”

Martin Shkreli didn't just jack up the price
Of an aids pill five hundred percent.
He made it free for those who couldn't afford it.
The most hated man in America gets
Seven years in prison for ripping off
Rich people.  What doesn't make sense
Is this guy had the ONLY copy of a WUTANG
album and was forced to give it up.

Subtle!  Rich people are more consumed by envy than the poor (maybe it helped them in their climb).  Excellent.

you lucky bastard.

I want the shirt that shrouds your back,
the double pleated pants as well.
The need to have the things you got,
the car you drive, that little dimpled ball you shot;
The green that's folded, hundreds all.
A Rolex watch, Bugatti car. A little slice
of prime-site shore a chef to crush my lobster's shell.
I'm not asking for a lot, all i want
is what you got...

a terrible verse for a terrible pun

Some women in Athens conspired, long ago,
to seize for themselves the vote.
The deme of envy the men called their group,
although, as a joke, they were heard.
And when the white stones for their speech came up short,
the men continued to laugh
by stripping them, holding their dresses for caulk
on triremes for Sicily bound.

Neat, an incident I'd not heard of.

The accusation being false, and the women presumably opposing the Sicilian expedition... which became an unmitigated disaster for Athens.
