4th Annual Poems About Suicide Month

Taken the last of the pills now.
Geese are flying upside down,
then right themselves
Dunkirk birds speeding across the sun
Forget the film, forget the book!
forgot everything
and flew like the geese,
now little shiny ducks
slippery with soap.
The little, yellow, plastic bastards,
think I'll paint them cobalt blue
with fake jewels (waterproof).

nothing is known about the suspect? not how old, not where from,  but thank god we all are informed that there was an ISIS flag in the truck.
don´t tell me specifics about the suspect are not meant for public at this time (i agree) but then neither is the info about how the flag got there
btw: i also agree that the implication of this article is probably correct.. and no, i do not defend terrorism.

p.s. mods: feel free to move my post to the sewer where it belongs (if it even has a place somewhere)

Who put the flag there...? Is that a real question? Do you think Abdulahi Hasan Sharif was unaware of the flag right beside him when he rammed through a barricade to kill a cop?
And there are specific details... He's a refugee from Somalia, age 30. This happened in my hometown so I can verify its validity.

You are an example of skepticism gone retarded
assholery not intended .

And Now, the Alarm

we go to bed with secrets
and it was impossible getting to sleep
last night

you rolled over mid-snore
about twenty past four
and kissed my shoulder
mumbling something about unicorns
and Monday mornings

that’s when I finally drifted off

and I dreamed
of those frostbit nights
we’d lain
content in nervous laughter

warm bodies
under cool sheets
and now the alarm

I cannot live
knowing you believe
all those love poems were about you

and no last breath will confess it.

Words

They used to believe in me,
what I could do.
Even now as they line up on the page
they look for me to save them.
Silent and naked.

I've tried to scare them
show them what I'm really like
but still they come.
I can only sit and listen
as each one offers itself
to the crushing weight of my pencil.

If your undies fer you've been smoking through em, don't peg em out

words, disfigured
by pencils. it must be like this,
a crush, desperate folly,
a last ditch effort
to turn into sense
or something common.

words, executed
the way they should be,
were meant or weren´t, sometimes
graphite erases from paper
as complete and as traceless
as thoughts from a mind,
bullets from flesh.

On three, 1,2, wait

We both have a gun in our mouth
but I won't be the one
who jumps in the pool first
with you standing at the side laughing,
me floating
as my brain is dispersed in cold chlorine.

So we'll sit here at the kitchen table
holding our guns
unable to speak.

Well go ahead punk,
give me a reason
to stay.

If your undies fer you've been smoking through em, don't peg em out

Wrote this in a block a few months ago:

 Empty

How empty are these words if you cannot read them,

Day.
We have traveled far and round
And seen nothing of ourselves in the world

How empty are these words
If you cannot hang them on a billboard
And say these are mine
That I am proud I said them

 How empty are these days
That they did not happen
Or happened only in darkness

When the clock turns it speaks of
Nothing
When I turn my head
There’s nobody behind me
How empty the worlds
Of mine and beyond me
That I have forgotten them before they ended.

What to do at eleven

Rangi-the-sky and Papa-the-earth
smothered their six offspring, quarrelled.
After his brothers failed
Tane-the-life-giver pushed
his parents apart
saving Rangi’s life.

The brothers stood on Papa’s breast,
gazed at their empty world, then scurried
to fill it.

broken and unbroken
the world is everything
every part whole

On the quarter-deck, flexing his knees
as waves rolled below, Arion plucked
high and lively Orphian airs from his strings

then the world’s ace harpist
pitched himself
into the sea.

nice enjambment on blisters, Mark
-successfully graphic image in few words
-might yet be able to cut "outbursting", maybe even "knuckled"

Agreed on the enjambment, Mark. I also love the title giving context to the poem.

Characterized by perineum colour
and sweated foot notes with a spicy
semenal finish. Ideal accompaniment
to suicide.

The Note They Found

on the night table
under empty bottles
of Xanax and gin
smelled vaguely of patchouli.

The reports of my privilege
are greatly exaggerated,

was all it said.

Lovely example of showing tellingly.  Scotch or bourbon would have been all wrong, not to mention absinthe.

A MORBID OBESITY

Some people live and
Some people die.
