Really enjoyed this esp the girl in the tree, you have captured the open anything can happen of youth and let it go flat in the grease popped bubbles in the sink, so glad the trees glow red it leaves me with the hope all is not lost. Second use of knees I get is a comparison but could be legs ? Just a thought it would pick up a partial rhyme from tread. A pleasure to read, and a treat to hear Milo take the mic, clearly inspired as I am. Best Keith

Gorgeous, rich imagery of childhood, contrasted with its loss. The metaphor of cherry blossom, of renewal.
Poetry can be dangerous, especially beautiful poetry, because it gives the illusion of having had the experience without actually going through it.

beautiful..
what set me imagining most was "shrug the honey from my hand"
honey as something precious made from the bees
honey shrugged off as something too sweet to be consumed overly by the "you", but still the taste remains
i imagine them as a couple with blooming romance in the first stanza and a nostalgic note in the second with the cherries still glowing (though the poem´s subject doesn´t speak for the "you")

All of the files in my kiwi6 account became corrupt somehow which is why billy had to remove all the recordings I did for the site.

On the bright side, I think I remember Leanne doing a version of this as well and posting it on her site . . .

Hey Lizzie, thanks for the emoticon. I always love it when people react with a frown at the suggestion that I might record my own poems. Heaven forfend I should sully your ears.

I haven't recorded it, milo -- at least, I don't think I have. I will if it will help lower your blood pressure.

Exploding poets are so messy.

Lizzie was the one who bumped it cause she liked it.
    Grrls...

P.S. While Leanne is two of the best poets here (the other two being mercedes); when it comes to reading poetry, there's only milo.

This was the bump. Lizzie liked the recording, not the poem itself. I don't blame her - milo's much nicer than I am.

Actually the recording has been missing since before she joined the site. She probably just liked the poem and wanted to hear a reading of it.

I must have misremembered then.

Yes, I do believe I would like that.
