imo, rewriting depends on the person whose poem you're rewriting. if they're cool with it, go for it. to me it just feels like a frustrated "HERE! this is how you should do it!" which isn't what poetry is about anyway. but I've been lucky, don't think anyone has ever rewritten anything of mine, so I'm not complaining or anything, just observing. =]
