Our pupils dilated for just thirty days,
until you realized the sun must rise
on empty beer cans,
whisky that lived atop my breath,
and joy only found in drunkenness.

The fourth month dies it's sombre death
slower than some, hanging like a corpse
on gallows high. Lets not tarry as a harbinger
of poetry would; we'll go April's way.

April Gone

No clock can say the close of day
nor raucous cock an end to night-
how dares our calendar to say
these thirty days are all we might
keep company, and then away?

Thirty short days
Only four weeks
Just a month
But not enough.
Twelve per year
How about four?
Maybe then I
Could remember significant
Events passing at
Increasingly alarming rates
