Shean Lock is dead, and Norm Macdonald is dead - Semicircle - 03-30-2022 I know that this is old news but these two died to lung cancer in a relatively short time between each other last year and most watchable comedians are starting to look a little overdue as well. Just look at Dylan Moran these days. (the irish do not age gracefully) When I caught wind of this I thought, fuck, all the good'ns are dying off. Where is our George Carlin in a time like this? He sure is missing out on all this easy content isn't he? Who will replace these guys? Cus the future is laying down its cards right now and I'm not impressed. Will the human race just get progressively less funny as time goes on? All bets on the table, I say yes. RE: Shean Lock is dead, and Norm Macdonald is dead - Magpie - 03-30-2022 I suppose it's a bit like the 'what happened with poetry question?' and the answer may be along the same lines in respect of the way that people would access comedy these days. Is stand up a lost art? To some it probably seems old fashioned. There has been a show here in Britain which is a stand up comedian doing their routine while actors act it out. What's the point in that? But it is probably aimed at a mainly younger market who consume these products in different ways. It's not allowing us to use our imagination enough. There will be excellent comedy out there, just not in the usual platforms and formats that we are used to. It does seem that stand up is a dying art but there will be some decent ones out there, but as for anyone being as good as Billy Connolly, in my opinion - no chance. David Mitchell is my favorite British comedian besides Sean Lock of coarse. RE: Shean Lock is dead, and Norm Macdonald is dead - Magpie - 03-30-2022 Yeah seen that, it's funny. I take it you're not British, it's interesting what others find funny in British comedy. For something extra surreal and truly British check out Reeves and Mortimer and Shooting Stars RE: Shean Lock is dead, and Norm Macdonald is dead - rowens - 04-13-2022 Gilbert Gottried. Who's nest? Jeanenne Garofolo. Did I spell that right the first time? There are no redlines. Somebody spell that right for me. Also, Bill Burr, Dave Chappelle and Ricky Gervais. I've always thought writing a well crafted joke is very similar to writing poetry. RE: Shean Lock is dead, and Norm Macdonald is dead - rowens - 04-13-2022 You like Woody Allen? Annie Hall? Kathy Griffen used to be funny. And I like Steven Wright. Kathy Gyrphon And Bobcat. RE: Shean Lock is dead, and Norm Macdonald is dead - Semicircle - 04-13-2022 I've seen a good bit of these little critters. There are some good suggestions I'll have to snipe out. RE: Shean Lock is dead, and Norm Macdonald is dead - rowens - 04-13-2022 Speaking of comedy. Today, when I saw Matilda. Her hair was still long and black. And she had a silvery butterfly clip in it for no real reason, it wasn't clipping her hair up in any way, her hair was hanging down to her ass, in those tight black pants they make them wear at the grocery store. I walked up real smooth. She was packing meat into the meat section. And I said, Hey, uh, you aint seventeen anymore are ya? Then I completely panicked, and I have no idea what I said after that. But eventually, I'll make a poem and/or joke out of it. Bur I have to wait till May 1 before I can drink again. And so god damn you and everybody who looks like you. RE: Shean Lock is dead, and Norm Macdonald is dead - Semicircle - 04-13-2022 Next time just say a bad one liner always gets em' RE: Shean Lock is dead, and Norm Macdonald is dead - rowens - 04-13-2022 Well, she turned around and looked at me and smiled real big and started blushing, and I said something stupid and ran away, like a faggot. And that's why I was wondering if you could give me some advice. Seeing as how . . . AWWW! I just laid some Diamond Dice Clay on your unsuspecting asszzzz!!!!! RE: Shean Lock is dead, and Norm Macdonald is dead - Semicircle - 04-13-2022 tip of the day: date older women RE: Shean Lock is dead, and Norm Macdonald is dead - rowens - 04-13-2022 Older women don't take me seriously. They think I'm too young and silly. RE: Shean Lock is dead, and Norm Macdonald is dead - Semicircle - 04-13-2022 (04-13-2022, 07:41 AM)rowens Wrote: Older women don't take me seriously. RE: Shean Lock is dead, and Norm Macdonald is dead - rowens - 04-13-2022 Why? You afraid the mods are going to get on your case for continuing a subject that no one was interested in to begin with? You scared of getting banned? Like your Girlfriend, I Saw A Space Ship? Could be just me but I read most of your everyday dialogue as if it's poetry. Almost always works for me. See you in May! |
