and young,
you were Orion
in my firmament.
But now, in a differentÂ
galaxy,
the sky has strange comets.

Hey busker,
Orion is signified by three prominent, fixed stars and comets are "visitors".
Perhaps it's that your view of a steadfast person in your younger life now includes strange visitors in your older, "different galaxy". Or not. That's how I read it, although I may be seeing it from a parallel universe.

Mark - your interpretation is close what I had intended, although the association of comets with doom and death are also there, not intentionally, but just the way it came out
