duchess ‘offers £500,000 access’
#1
The Duke of York faced fresh controversy over his role as British business ambassador last night after it emerged that his former wife had apparently offered access to him in exchange for £500,000. There were fears that his position as Special Representative for International Trade and Investment had been compromised by her asking an undercover reporter for the money.

source;

the story actually made me laugh, i can't really see her ex being on the take, but it does beg the question.

How do we or the peoples of the worlds nations, stop corruption such as this. as an aside it also begs the question as to why an ex member of the royal family isn't be prosecuted over the allegation.

Ow, that's definitely damaging.

Thing is, how did she plan to pull this off, if the Duke's not involved? Not claiming anything, just curious.
PS. If you can, try your hand at giving some of the others a bit of feedback. If you already have, thanks, can you do some more?

as far as i can tell, her idea was this;

she gets the cash then she introduces them to her ex, prince edward as a trusted friend etc, and then it's up to them to court him as a confidante come the man whose in the know etc.

The Royal Family has not been up to it's famed reputation these few years. There has been a few scandals and some broken marriages. Confused

throughout history kings have married commoners.

that said you'll find most of those who married this century are connected to the royal family all be it distantly.

I wouldn't say so myself. There were certainly a lot of bastard relationships (generating off-spring) but marriage was generally kept in between royal houses (or powerful families) and not really commoners. It's a 21st century thing.

Before WWI, the monarchs of each country were basically all related (largely due to Queen Victoria).

most heirs or wives were descended from or related to edward the 1st.

all of henry tudors wives were related to eddy .
in those days, nobility was often made. someone would be made a duke of this place etc. from then on he was declared of royal or noble blood. the line between the two became vague as time passed and for many who are in line the the throne the fact is often fiction.

that aside. fergies trick was lower than low.

I don't think I would put Diana in the Bimbo Class ... she was a gem.
Sadly she was set up for failure from the gettgo ... how does any woman compete with a husband's true love?
