Caesar was every girl’s boy!
Caesar was every man’s toy!
Brutus was Julius’ boy!
Brutus stuck him where it hurt!
Brutus left him in the dirt!
Caesar was dead when he left!
Caesar was burnt when you left!
Take it on down now - 1, 2, 3, 4, go, to... HADES!

  - Republican/conspiratorial cadence call at Philippi,
  responses (“You’re right!”) assumed

But seriously, how did Romans count cadence without Anglo-Saxon monosyllables for 1-4?  "Sinister" and "dexter" would be even worse...

Ah heck,
It really has been a while
Since I tried to string a swirl
Of lines that shouldn't connect
Like i've seen a humpback whale
Crashing through a concrete wall
But history shows I will
Try to spin them like a wheel.

Pretending To Like Poetry

Why are you mad about this?
Yes,
I loaned him the book you bought,
your inscription still to me,
wishing a happy birthday
and nothing else- the word “love”
over used further inside.

Bombs in a row descend like
stairs below an airplane door.
A red rug unrolls downward
– a carpet without magic.

A blue-suited man appears
at the door, waves and turns black.
The night this time may never end.

Nice one Teagan and everyone else. just got back last night so i'll try and fill a couple in each day. keep up the good stuff everyone Smile

Twat

Each of seven syllables;
a poem of seven lines.
I wonder will it matter,
does the bastard have to rhyme?
It's like six partial haiku
or a tercet shouting loud
whoever picked this format should be lying in a shroud.

I appreciate the attention and time, the minimum was seven in case someone wanted the eighth line to have no syllables.  So everyone did it kinda wrong but that's my fault...  I loved them all thank you everyone for submitting! Duke's was spot on, great

Seven means the chariot
on which a triumphant prince
rides into his city, wets
the faces of the women with
tears -- the men who march behind
look around with hungry eyes
while the bellend blindly smiles.
