are you pleased or displeased with what you see, politically speaking.
i'll post my thoughts later but if you tell us yours maybe we can can the ball rolling.

i support a labour gov in the uk btw.

it would help, this being a serious discussion thread and all.
no,i'm def.serious.
1.the politicians class only promote themselves and like minded people,in other words if you don't howl with the wolves you don't get on voting lists or right on the bottom.
2.there is not much diff.between candidates,so it doesn't really matter anymore who you vote for.
3.look who's getting into government,ex executives of big corporations into positions where they decide over issues connected with their former job[food industry, arms producers etc.]
this'll do for now
here i the Philippines i think 50 or a 100 plus celebrities are running for one political office or another. it's a joke.
maybe obama broke the dynasty of presidents in USA politics. or maybe most of them just died off lol.

so if not democracy, what? personally i like democracy.
yes, here in india it's the same, filmstars, cricket celebrities getting asked to join political parties, very tempting because that's where the money is.
as far as obama goes i think he's a product of the chicago democratic mafia.
instead of democracy my first gut reaction would be TOTAL ANARCHY.but what about a benign dictator ship?the problem with governments is basicly the wrong people in the wrong places
the usa had it's celeb s in government as well. arnie.
the cowboy president. total anarchy would be too much,
anarchy in general would be too much i think. what happens with a benign dictatorship when the benign dictator dies and a right twat takes over.
personally i'll go with democracy every time.
as long as the votes aren't rigged we only really have ourselves to blame if we let shit last for longer than a single term.
well, the votes in florida obviously were rigged, and the people in lots of places weren't to blame what happened to them next
source.

wouldn't you agree that overall the usa got who they voted for?
yes, absolutely, they should be a bit more carefull over there as it has such a devastating effect on the rest of the world
it never really affected the philippines.
and a few other places who were'nt into the mortgage marckets so heavily.
up till now i think the usa are doing better than with bushy. it'll take another 5 years at least to see the real outcome
well,it couldn't have been anything worse than bush,he was def.the most destructive prez.i have known,it's a hard one but i would say even worse than nixon and reagan
it could have been someone like north korea's il kim yung or young ill kim whatever his name is.

ps check your pm please

Hope this is not off topic but it is my profound opinion that every country that has elections or is allowed the so called right to vote gets exactly what the majority asked for. The system will not work any other way. The real people behind the elected ruling body of any elected government custom mold 3 or 4 parties to cover the vast majorities of scenarios of what the people will in fact see as the important issues. These issues are largely shaped by the same people behind the thrones of all of these countries. It's as plain to see as the nose on the ends of our faces and thats why it works, they hide in plain sight just beyond the fog.

it's relevant benny.
i agree with you. okay, a democratic society may have to suffer a bad choice for a term but they have the ability to choose someone else if the leader and his party fail. same with the senators etc.

looking at the usa as an outsider i think the people got who they voted for.
i think here in the philippines there's a lot more chance to pull strings and cheat. which is sad because what they need now more than anything is stability.

i think i'd have voted for obama and his team if i could have.
yeah, but no matter who you vote for these days it's business as usual, people shoved forwards by big biz.
if we're lucky they get caught before they steal too much.
how much do business and politics sleep together.
who sleeps in whose political be so to speak.
churchill was a man of his time. when they spoke of "cometh the moment cometh the man" they were speaking about people like him. sadly hitler fell into the same category. thankfully he didn't achieve his goals. but yep i think it's true what the quote says.
lets face it most countries are now turning toward some kind of democracy, and those who have it are sticking with it.
