Truth to Blow by Blow,
‘cause we’ve ended as lovers –
age old memories
Mark,
First, the poem. The first line is startling in its repetition of "Blow" and it invites so many meanings in one small line, and whole poem delivers a kind of unexpectedness.
Second, I know you lost a brother last year. Is this another brother, or dedicated to him?

I listened to the whole Jeff Beck album, and didn't have a response. Until now.
Not much of a response.
Not much of a response.

Ooops! no -er. I'm glad. About the stupid mistake not that Jeff Beck is dead.

Maybe Jeff Beck is a metaphor for a Becker.
The second line felt too, unless incestuous, lovey-dovey to be about a brother or something.

In fact, another, older brother, died over a decade ago. He idolized Jeff Beck, and tried his best to emulate/imitate his guitar style- did a fair job of it, too. So, this is dedicated to Beck, and 'by association', my brother.

My older brother was definitely a Beck-er. I still am, though the connection pretty much ended with what I consider his penultimate cover: 'cause we've ended as lovers' (actually a Stevie Wonder song).
The second line is the name of a song on the LP 'Blow by Blow'. If you substitute 'brothers' for 'lovers' it might as well be about my brother. 'Truth' (1968) to 'Blow by Blow' (1975) covered our late teens to early twenties: my brother idolized Beck and we idolized my brother. That blood bond, though not incestuous, was an extremely powerful connection. We seven Becker boys may as well have been one person- hardened now, like a statue with pieces chipped off.
