Is it my imagination, or have moderators become very thin on the ground this past month or two?

(If everyone else knows the reason and it's a secret, no prob Dodgy   )
Nope, we pop in but the site seems to be taking a nap, it happens, not that much to do. Poems are getting crits, newb posts get approved, or not, usually within 12 hours at the most.

I wonder if a random challenge might wake us up?

OK.

Random Challenge:

Write a poem about taking a nap.
8-14 lines.
Wake me when you're done.
Go!

I'll go take a nap, and report on what happens ...

Nanna nap

Einstein was right about time
so I'm travelling to his office
to ask him myself
if he feels responsible
for the potential annihilation
of the human race
by nuclear weapons.

Then again, if we're all gone,
there's no one to be responsible for
anyway.
Nappenstance

A nap after lunch is much the best sleep
of any a person enjoys in the day
for catnaps of morning can bring termination
while sleep after supper leaves sleepers awake
at night worse than coffee.

So, one who indulges in rest after lunching
has no need of catnaps and unlike his waking
alarmed with the dawning
he's no need to worry
what day of the week
he's just fallen into.

Enjoyed yours about the Einstein interview.  Modest man, compared himself to Midas except that instead of everything he touched turning to gold, it turned into a fuss in the newspapers.
Merc, Duke,
Don't you guys ever sleep?

Hammocking

I made a verb of hammocking
at least ten years before Webster's.

(They're always asleep at the wheel
and won't tack a gerund on diddly before the Joneses come thundering
up the middle of the road).

It ought to be about napping. Don't you think?
It ought to be about the conspiracy between two oaks
to suspend you, cocooned against gravity.

So, don't get caught up
in insulated zips and nylons snaps and mosquito netting.

Mine, I got from a thrift shop
forty-five-years ago now--

some dude had tie-dyed one his mother's sheets and sewn a bit of rope in the ends.

It naps two.

Heritage

Six years ago my son shot up his last string of heroin
smuggled here from some South-American shithole.

And she’s all I have left. My sweet girl - jailbait for unwanted
undocumented gang-bangers living tax free on my dime.

And I have to protect her. Sharia law is coming, believe me.
They said 9/11 couldn’t happen but the planes still crashed.

And I have to be proud for her. So I stand for my country.
Soon as the truck fixed up i’ll fly the stripes and stars.

And America has to be great for her. So i’ll settle down
for a little slumber so I won’t have to see her disgrace.

Hey Xlat. Thanks for participating. I really enjoyed this write. The N is angry and offensive in a way a grieving parent ought to be allowed. Tongue in cheek or not.

I don't know how I missed this... I do enjoy a good challenge... By the way, I've enjoyed all the poems on napping, not an easy subject to rhyme one off about.

Unanswered Questions

Do you remember your naps last summer?
You didn't respond
to your name,
but knew you liked sleep.
Your name-
we argued about it for weeks,
you may never understand.

Do you remember your last nap?
A lonely day in March
when snow began to melt.
Your diagnosis months old,
but louder than Spring's promise
raging in the wind.
